Paul left St John’s College Cambridge in 1980 and trained in the City, qualifying in 1984. At that time his specialisations were commercial conveyancing and merger and acquisition. He joined a firm in his home town and became a partner in 1987.
In 1997 he left private practice to join Ashtead Group plc as head of its then new legal department, and whilst there added employment law to his skills. There he also learned that lawyers do not only have to advise their clients – sometimes they have to make decisions on their own initiative, and make them work.
His 30 years of experience in all aspects of commercial law are an invaluable resource to any business client.
Outside work, Paul follows cricket avidly, having played for many years, and is a keen allotment holder. He has also sung in choirs for close on 50 years.
